GOOD. Water lightly stained; 75 degrees; 0.53 feet below pool. Fishing patterns are holding steady. Look for this bite to change in the coming weeks. Crappie are in 5-10 feet of water in standing timber in the morning. Midday move to 10-20 feet on deeper timber and brush piles or condos. White bass are feeding shallow in 1-4 feet of water early in the morning during the shad spawn. Once this bite ends, fish move to 20 feet of water on shelves and main lake points. In the morning cast swimbaits switch to one ounce white or chartreuse slabs for the deeper fish. Channel catfish are starting the annual spawn. You will find these fish in 1-5 feet of water in the rip rap and submerged brush along the edges of the lake. Punch Bait, Shad, chicken liver or shrimp all work well. Black bass are in 1-20 feet of water on brush piles. This time of year you can still find some fish on beds. White and chartreuse spinner baits predominantly all day walls sometimes work with a good cloud cover. Otherwise after the spinnerbait bite is slowing down switch to a square bill and cover 3-6 feet of water till around nine in the morning. Then start looking for big fish deep 15-20 feet on structure with Alabama-rigs, swimbaits, or Carolina rigs. Report by Carey Thorn, White Bass Fishing Texas. Anticipate heavy traffic on the lake this weekend with the Memorial Day holiday. This week is National Safe Boating Week, for more information check out Texas Parks and Wildlife online and search for “Boating Safety Tips.” Happy Memorial Day!
